Meet Linda Torres, a talented artist and tattooist who is expanding her creative reach beyond the tattoo studio.

As one of the pilot artists participating in the Artist's Launch Academy, Linda's journey exemplifies the transformation that many artists seek — moving from service-based art to product-based income streams.

Linda's Background: A Fusion of Tattooing and Visual Art

For the past six years, Linda has dedicated herself to tattooing, fostering deep connections with clients through collaborative designs.

While tattooing remains a vital part of her artistic identity, Linda felt a growing desire to reconnect with her personal artistic voice. "Tattooing is wonderful, but I miss creating just for me," Linda shared during our initial interview.

Linda envisions expanding her offerings to include visual art prints and merchandise, allowing her audience to experience her work in new ways. "I want people to have access to my art without needing to invest in a tattoo or expensive painting. Prints, apparel, and other merchandise feel like the next step," she explained.

Goals for the Academy: E-Commerce, SEO, and Branding

Linda's primary goals in joining the Academy are to build a strong e-commerce platform, refine her SEO skills, and create a cohesive brand that reflects her multifaceted artistry. With a background in art education and installations, Linda's artistic range is vast. However, she admits that marketing and technology have always felt like barriers.

"I’m not tech-savvy. I learn best by doing," Linda noted in her Module 1 feedback. This hands-on learning approach aligns perfectly with the Academy's structure, which blends theory with actionable steps.

Current Progress: Diving into SEO in Module 2

Currently, Linda and the other pilot artists are working through Module 2 which focuses on search engine optimization (SEO), after finishing Module 1: Overview of Digital Marketing for artists. This module covers critical components such as keyword research, website structure, and backlink strategies.

Linda expressed excitement about this part of the journey, recognizing how essential SEO is for attracting organic traffic to her future online store.

"Understanding SEO feels like unlocking a new language. I want to know how to make my website visible to people searching for art like mine," she said. Linda's enthusiasm underscores a common theme among artists who seek to break free from social media dependency and build more sustainable sales channels.

Reflecting on the Experience

Linda appreciates the Academy's holistic approach to marketing. "The analogy about social media being like window shopping really helped shift my mindset. I now understand that my website will be the actual store," she reflected.

Her feedback has been instrumental in shaping the course for future participants. For instance, Linda highlighted the need for clearer pre-test instructions and more visual elements in the workbook to accommodate different learning styles.

What’s Next?

Linda's next steps me creating a 4 page website template for Module 4. By Feb, she will begin designing her new website, applying everything she’s learned from the SEO module to ensure it's optimized from the start.
