Have you ever found yourself sitting through a lesson or workshop, only to walk away feeling like none of it really stuck? If you have ADHD, this feeling might be all too familiar.
The way most traditional educational systems approach learning simply doesn’t work for neurodivergent brains. This is something I’ve kept front and center while building the Artist’s Launch Workbook.
It’s more than just a supplement to the academy—it’s a tool designed to bridge the gap between learning and doing, making abstract concepts tangible and actionable.
Let’s dive into the science behind ADHD learning, the intentional design of the workbook, and why artists in the pilot program are already singing its praises.

Neurological Basis of ADHD and Learning
Research indicates that individuals with ADHD may have differences in brain regions associated with attention and executive functions, such as the prefrontal cortex and parietal lobes. These differences can influence how they process and retain information, making traditional teaching methods less effective.
Effective Learning Strategies for Individuals with ADHD
Two approaches have been identified as particularly beneficial for learners with ADHD:
Multisensory Learning: Engaging multiple senses can enhance focus and retention. Incorporating visual aids, hands-on activities, and auditory materials caters to diverse learning styles and can improve accessibility and inclusion.
Active Learning Techniques: Active engagement methods, such as using flashcards, teaching concepts to others, or explaining ideas aloud, can make study sessions more stimulating and effective for individuals with ADHD. These strategies help maintain interest and improve information retention.
By incorporating these strategies into educational practices, I can create more supportive learning environments that accommodate the unique needs of individuals with ADHD.
Why ADHD Artists Struggle with Traditional Education
In most art schools, marketing and business education—if it’s offered at all—tends to lean heavily on theory without any practical application. For ADHD artists, this mismatch often leads to frustration and a sense of failure. What’s missing is a hands-on, actionable approach that aligns with how their creative brains work.
The Purpose Behind the Artist’s Launch Workbook
My Inspiration for the Workbook Design
When I was in college, I discovered something about myself: I retained information best when I could listen and immediately apply what I’d learned through practical exercises. Knowing this years later creating this academy became the foundation for the Artist’s Launch Workbook.
I wanted this workbook to be more than just a “note-taker.” It’s a dynamic tool that helps artists move from “understanding” to “doing,” breaking down complex concepts like SEO and marketing into manageable, actionable steps.
Tailoring Modules for Depth and Practicality
Each module of the workbook is designed with purpose:
Modules 1 and 2: These theory-heavy sections focus on foundational topics like SEO and marketing techniques. The workbooks here are lighter, with targeted exercises to help artists grasp the basics.
Modules 3 and 4: These practical sections take a deep dive into planning and execution. For example, Module 3 spans over 60 pages and includes exercises on audience psychographics, brand archetypes, and website structure—everything an artist needs to launch a website with confidence.
Pilot Artist Feedback: What’s Working and What’s Next
Insights from Module 1
The first module focused on foundational marketing concepts, presented through scenarios designed to make abstract ideas tangible. I honestly worried that artists might not care whether they got the "right" answers in these scenarios. Turns out, I was wrong! The pilot artists wanted validation that they were on the right track, so I added an answer key to future modules.
Insights from Module 2
Module 2 shifted the focus to SEO strategies tailored specifically for artists. This module introduced the foundational concepts of search engine optimization, emphasizing how to make an artist's website discoverable. Pilot artists found the step-by-step approach and actionable tasks particularly useful, but some initially felt overwhelmed by the technical terminology.
In response, I introduced a simplified glossary of SEO terms and broke down each task into smaller, manageable steps. Artists also loved the personalized examples of how SEO directly impacts art sales, which made the content feel relatable and empowering. For future updates, I'm considering adding a bonus troubleshooting section to address common website visibility challenges.

ADHD-Friendly Learning in Action
One pilot artist mentioned that the workbook’s scenario-based approach helped them “connect the dots” between abstract concepts like SEO and real-world application. This feedback validated my design choices and reaffirmed the importance of creating tools tailored to diverse learning styles.
A Sneak Peek at Module 3
Today, I finished pages 94 through 160 of the workbook, which covers Module 3: Research for Launching a Website. This is where the workbook transitions from foundational knowledge to actionable strategy. Here’s a breakdown of what artists can expect:
Part A: Transitioning from demographics to psychographics, helping artists understand the deeper motivations of their audience.
Part B: Integrating brand archetypes with audience insights to craft compelling messaging.
Part C: Identifying and mapping out a sales funnel.
Part D: Creating messaging strategies aligned with audience behavior.
Part E: Keyword research for SEO.
Part F: Structuring website pages for clarity and conversion.

These exercises aren’t just about planning—they’re about giving artists the tools to take confident action.
What’s Next for the Workbook?
Refinements Based on Pilot Feedback
With each module, I’m incorporating insights from the pilot artists to ensure the workbook meets their needs. For example, the addition of an answer key in Module 1 was a direct result of feedback.
Upcoming Modules
Modules 3 and 4 will be sent to the pilot artists after Christmas, just in time to kick off the new year. These modules are designed to guide artists through planning and launching their websites, with actionable steps to ensure progress.
